SLS South Beach Shuts Down—Finally
The SLS South Beach has quietly shut its doors, with fencing now surrounding the property as renovations begin. It’s the end of a long, underwhelming era for what was supposed to be the bold next chapter in Philippe Starck’s hotel legacy, an eagerly anticipated follow-up to the Delano and the flashpoint of his partnership with Sam Nazarian.
What we got instead was a hot mess: cheap finishes, forgettable food, and a vibe that leaned more Vegas bottle service than an elevated hospitality play. The SLS never really mattered. While the layoffs are a shame, we’re hoping Ennismore sees this as a real opportunity to rebuild, not just reboot.

Luxury brokers Alon, Oren, and Tal Alexander are suing The Real Deal and its publisher Amir Korangy for $500 million, claiming they were defamed in a coordinated media hit job.
